Made during my time training with Master Lee Hyang-gu in Icheon, South Korea, where I became his longest-term international student. Like all handmade ceramics, subtle variations and individual character are part of what makes each moon jar unique.
Dinner Party is finished with a traditional copper glaze and wood fired in Icheon, South Korea. Throughout the firing, the changing kiln atmosphere allowed the copper to develop a striking range of colours, from deep reds and burgundy through to soft jade-green. As the flame and atmosphere continually shifted, different areas of the vessel experienced slightly different firing conditions, making the final colour variation unique to this individual moon jar.
