Made during my time training with Master Lee Hyang-gu in Icheon, South Korea, where I became his longest-term international student. Like all handmade ceramics, subtle variations and individual character are part of what makes each moon jar unique.
This moon jar is part of the Two Lines That Almost Meet series. Two hand-painted cobalt lines travel around the vessel, drawing close before quietly continuing on their own paths.
Mia retains a subtle ash marking from the wood firing, a natural record of the kiln and part of the character of this individual piece.
Artist's Note
This moon jar also has subtle areas of surface roughness on the shoulder and rim. These cosmetic characteristics are small in nature and are more apparent to the touch than to the eye. They do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. I have included close-up photographs below to represent these characteristics as accurately as possible, and they have been reflected in the price.
Reserve This Moon Jar
The first completed reservation request received for each available moon jar will be offered the opportunity to purchase that piece.
If your reservation is successful, you will receive, within approximately 24 hours:
a personalised shipping quote, and
a Stripe invoice for the moon jar and shipping.
Your reservation will be held for 48 hours from the time your shipping quote and Stripe invoice are sent.
During this time, you may decide whether you would like to proceed. Submitting a reservation request does not commit you to purchasing the artwork.
If payment is not received within the 48-hour reservation period, or you choose not to proceed, the moon jar will be offered to the next collector in line.
Each moon jar is carefully packaged using protective materials and shipped with a tracked delivery service from Sydney, Australia.
Every moon jar includes a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
