“Mia” was made and wood fired during my time training under Master Lee Hyang-gu in Icheon, South Korea, where I became his longest-term international student.
Part of my Two Lines That Almost Meet series, Mia explores connection through two hand-painted cobalt lines that travel around the porcelain surface. They draw close but never quite meet, leaving a small space between them. For me, that space holds the possibility of a connection: paths that nearly crossed, and things that could have been but didn’t. This exploration of design became a meaningful part of The Icheon Collection.
Mia also carries an ash marking from the wood firing in Korea. I value this trace of the kiln alongside the deliberate brushwork: a lasting record of the firing that makes this particular piece its own.
Artist's Note
There are small areas of surface roughness on the shoulder and rim, more noticeable to the touch than to the eye. These are shown in the close-up photographs and have been reflected in the price. They sit alongside the ash marking as part of Mia’s individual surface character.
Reserve This Moon Jar
The first completed reservation request received for each available moon jar will be offered the opportunity to purchase that piece.
If your reservation is successful, you will receive, within approximately 24 hours:
a personalised shipping quote, and
a Stripe invoice for the moon jar and shipping.
Your reservation will be held for 48 hours from the time your shipping quote and Stripe invoice are sent.
During this time, you may decide whether you would like to proceed. Submitting a reservation request does not commit you to purchasing the artwork.
If payment is not received within the 48-hour reservation period, or you choose not to proceed, the moon jar will be offered to the next collector in line.
Each moon jar is carefully packaged using protective materials and shipped with a tracked delivery service from Sydney, Australia.
Every moon jar includes a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
